Jazz on the Green, the annual Musical Event brings music, food, art, and a sense of community to Southwest Florida. It also raises money and awareness for children and the environment through Southwest Florida Children’s Charities and Wild About Green Programs. This year Jazz on the Green chose to helped Footsteps to the Future showcase our program.
It was a beautiful setting on the River in Downtown Ft .Myers, there was a chill in the air and a good time was had by all; especially by one of our “darlings” Jenny, as she blushed when one of the young performers, B.K. Jackson, stood next to her in the crowd and played his Saxophone. What a thrill!!
If you attended Jazz on the Green this past January you had the pleasure of seeing the debut of a documentary film “Aging Out Foster Youth…Challenges and Solutions in our Community” about Footsteps to the Future and the work it does. The American Association of University Women (AAUW) granted Footsteps funds to produce a video about foster care and Footsteps’ contribution to our community in an effort to increase awareness of some of our local foster children. Through the generosity and skill of producer John Biffar, Dave Beaty and Whitney Sickles of Dreamtime Entertainment located in Cape Coral Fl., this film, a longtime goal of Footsteps to the Future was realized. There was a hush over the crowd as the audience paid close attention to the story about foster care youth and Footsteps enfolded on the screen. Thanks to Renee Bledsoe and all our friends at Jazz on the Green for your support.
